Indian utility Karnataka Renewable Energy Development Limited (KREDL) has launched a tender for the development and construction of 200 MW of solar parks in the southwestern Indian state.
According to the notice on the government-owned company’s website, it is seeking to install four photovoltaic (PV) facilities with a capacity of 50 MW each and related transmission networks. The open tender is for the design, engineering, procurement, construction (EPC), supply, installation, testing and commissioning of the power plants. Following completion, developers will also have to operate and maintain the capacity for 10 years.
The PV parks will be situated within the Pavagada solar complex in the Tumakuru district and will generate electricity for local electricity supply companies (ESCOMs) for 25 years.
KREDL will await technical and financial proposals by January 3, 2018. Technical bids will be opened on January 5.
The Pavagada project was proposed in 2015 by the Karnataka Solar Power Development Corp Ltd (KSPDCL), a joint venture between KREDL and the Solar Energy Corp of India (SECI). The scheme calls for the installation of 2,700 MW of PV capacity in portions by the end of 2018.
