India’s biggest carmaker, Maruti Suzuki said that it has made a significant move to harness Solar Power to meet its vitality needs.
Recently, the organization had established the foundation stone for a 5 MW Solar Power plant at the Gurugram office, Maruti said in an announcement. The captive Solar Power plant is relied upon to be commissioned in FY 2019-20.
Maruti will invest around Rs 240 million and will balance CO2 emissions to the tune of more than 5390 tons every year, for the following 25 years. This is the second grid based Solar Power plant for Maruti Suzuki. The power generated from the solar power plant will be synchronized with the hostage power plant to take into account the interior vitality needs of the Gurugram office.
Kenichi Ayukawa, MD & CEO, Maruti Suzuki India said, “Solar energy is abundant, versatile and efficient. This Solar Power initiative is in line with the Company’s philosophy to adopt environment-friendly technologies and lower CO2 emissions.”

The first Solar Power plant was set up in 2014 at Manesar, with 1 MW limit. In 2018, this solar power plant was additionally extended to 1.3 MW.
As per the organization, the photovoltaic sun based boards of this carport style solar powered power plant will work in as a rooftop at the new car parking region. While the solar boards create clean energy, the vehicles parked underneath will be protected from solid climatic conditions.
The organization relies upon cleaner and sustainable sources of vitality which forms 95 percent of its complete energy use. The power required at the manufacturing unit is met by Natural Gas-based captive power plant, supported by grid power. The new solar power plant will also supplement the power generating capacity at the manufacturing plant.
