As per the State Rooftop Solar Attractiveness Index-SARAL released by Ministry of New and Renewable Energy- MNRE, Karnataka has topped as the best state in the list of setting up of rooftop solar project as compared to other states. Although Telangana, Gujarat, Andhra Pradesh come next in the rankings, still all the four states have been rated as A++ by MNRE.
The states were assessed based on their engagement and awareness for housetop advancement.
“The steps taken by the better performing states will be circulated among all other states so that they can emulate the adopted models. The reforms in the Tariff Policy will also ensure that customers as incentivized for setting up rooftop solar projects,” Minister of State for Power and New and Renewable Energy (Independent Charge), R K Singh said at the launch of the study.
The state of Jammu & Kashmir has been ranked last in the list of a solar rooftop system.
This rating has been structured cooperatively by MNRE, Shakti Sustainable Energy Foundation (SSEF), Associated Chambers of Commerce and Industry of India (ASSOCHAM) and Ernst and Young (EY).
Currently, the SARAL system is judging the states on five aspects. These include robustness of strategy system, execution condition, investment climate, customer experience and business environment in the states.
The Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE) has set an objective of 175 GW of sustainable power source limit by 2022, of which 100 GW solar power is to be operational by March 2022, of which 40 GW is relied upon to originate from grid-connected solar rooftops.
